Legoland 2011: Part 2

In the morning after breakfast, we gathered together to wait until the park opened. We had met for breakfast at 8am, so we had plenty of time to pack up our rooms and check out before it was time to leave. The kids played with Legos while we waited, and I sat nearby deleting pictures off of our camera to clear space for the day's adventures.

When the park opened at 10am, we were in line to enter along with a crowd of other people. The first ride we headed towards was the airplanes. This was a ride I could take H on, and K and AJ rode together as well. H wanted to ride again, and he even cried when we had to get off. Poor kid. He had no idea that there were so many other wonders to behold at Legoland.

 From the airplanes, we walked over to the Safari ride. During low season, K and AJ were able to get right back on this ride. Today was a lot busier, and the line grew longer and longer with each minute. I took H on it twice, and then we moved on. Again, he cried.

Next, AJ and K ventured on the Frog Hopper. H wasn't big enough for this ride, so he sat in the stroller and waited.

 Next was the boat ride. We decided on a boy's boat and a girl's boat. This was another ride that H loved.

 After the boat ride, K and AJ wanted to ride the caterpillar roller coaster. H couldn't ride this one, so he ate a banana in the stroller.

After this ride, it was time for lunch. We headed over to Duploland, where the kids played while I stood in line (for a long time) to order food. H fell asleep in the stroller after lunch, and the older kids headed off to other rides.

 Next, the kids wanted to ride the Jungle Racers. Auntie Sarah took AJ, K rode with Micaela, and Daniel went solo.

 After the Jungle Racers, I sat in the shade with still-sleeping H while the rest of the gang went treasure-hunting in the Temple. Shortly before they came out, I went to stand in line at the Fire Brigade ride. We had to pump our fire truck to the burning building, pump water into a hole, then race back. Engine number 6 kept winning, so we think it is rigged.

After this ride, we split up again. We found a place to buy ice cream, then I took K to the Castle show while Timo took the boys to see the Lego Racers show. Afterwards, we met at the train for one last ride around the park.

H was more interested in the small tree than in looking at me.

K thought it was pretty cool to see Neuschwanstein in Legos after having seen the real one last summer.

 Because it was a long weekend (four days in Denmark, and five days in Sweden), Legoland was much busier than any other time we have visited. The lines were sometimes insane when talking about a child's patience, and the crowds were tiresome. There were several rides we had wanted to ride but then decided against because of the line. I guess we have just been spoiled.

Overall, I think the kids will remember only good things about this day. The joy of experiencing the park with their cousins outweighs some of the negative aspects. As for me, I was happy with my ice cream. The one time I allowed myself to indulge on the trip was definitely worth it.

Legoland 2011: Part 1

After leaving Skørping, we headed south toward Billund, home of the original Legoland. We had made our reservations late, and the only hotel available was the Legoland Hotel. While it was a bit pricey, the rooms were incredible. It definitely enhanced the whole experience. After checking in, I couldn't stop taking pictures of the rooms and the hotel. One aspect I enjoy about the Legoland Hotel is that not only are there Lego stations all over the place to ensure a creative and fun-filled experience, but there are also Lego creations adorning every aspect of the hotel.
